Autonomic Therapy: Using reverse innervation and autonomic movement to correct imbalance within the body.
Shinkai-ho Autonomic Therapy
Shinkai-ho uses reverse innervation as well as a healing touch to overcome disharmony and disease within body, mind and spirit of the individual. The Shinkai-ho method that utilizes all aspects of the human being that get "stuck" as tools to release the blockage. What has been discovered is that blockages are not limited to the physical or the emotional aspects of the human being, but instead these blockages are dug into the physical, the emotional, and the mental aspects of the individual. This creates disharmony throughout a persons life, much of which is unconscious.
Because the physical, emotional, and mental aspects all carry a key to unlock the blockage, Shinkai-ho incorporates all of these aspects into the therapy. The base of the therapy is the process of reverse innervation. Reverse innervation theory states that it is incorrect to try to move in the direction that is painful or uncomfortable, but instead it is better to move in the direction that the body wants to move towards (i.e. the direction that feels good).
We first test the movement to see the range that is comfortable and light explore the limits. From there we move towards the direction that feels good, but with a little support from the practitioner.
This process is coupled with a light healing touch that stimulates an autonomic response (a nervous system movement that is unconscious) in the body. What this means is that the body begins to move on its own to release disharmony and re-balance. This movement is tuned to release negativity within the body, the mind, and the emotions. It is common during shinkai-ho autonomic therapy that patients find their bodies laughing or crying, but they themselves do not feel sad or funny. What's occurring is the body is releasing stored emotional energy and re-balancing physical alignment and functionality. You are not crying; your body is.
The theory of Shinkai-ho is very similar to the ancient Eastern medicine theory that the body has another circulatory system more subtle than than the one that circulates blood. This is the energy circulatory system, and it is related to our electromagnetic aura. This energy system (seen in typical acupuncture charts) is connected to the energy body of the human being and overlays the physical body. In the event of pain, misalignment, or disease, invariably there is a problem with the energy circulatory system.
Oftentimes, certain avenues of this system have effectively been blocked or suppressed, causing the body to take less effective, less direct avenues of energy transference. This eventually results in physical misalignment, pain or disease. In the event of injuries such as sudden blunt impact, it is possible that a physical misalignment will cause blockage in the energy path and that will exacerbate or prevent a complete recovery.
After the body has been in an out-of-balance state for a period of time, it will adjust to the out-of-balance state as if that were "normal," and this will cause the body to habitually take less efficient routes for energy transference, and the body will habitually come back to its "normal" out-of-balance state even after having been "fixed".
The key in such common cases is to keep the proper routes clear and keep reminding the body to use the proper routes. This is an important aspect of Shinkai-ho Autonomic Therapy and is one of the things that makes it so effective. If the focus were merely to get the body back to a physical balance without clearing the proper energy routes, the body will most likely return to an imbalanced state in fairly short order.

Better than Before the Fall - By Kathryn Hi Richard, I want to let you know how much improved I am as a result, I'm sure, of your treatment on Labor Day. Honestly, with each day afterward, my body entered a phase of steady repair and return to normalcy. Actually, I'm even better (almost) than before the fall. I wonder if that can be? At any rate, I am ever thankful to you.
Healthier Than Ever - By Sarah 15 Years ago today, as I was on my way to work in the morning, the driver of the car I was riding in lost control of the vehicle and spun out into the opposite lane of oncoming traffic. The car in that lane hit the rear-end of the passenger side where I was sitting. The driver walked away from the accident with whiplash, a concussion and a scratch over his eye. I was not so lucky as I ended up with whiplash, a concussion, a chipped tooth, a punctured spleen, a lacerated liver, and a broken neck. Most people cannot tell by looking at me now that I have endured this much injury. Thanks to Richard Haight I have complete movement restored to my neck as well and I am healthier than ever. I have come very far since then, and I have learned a lot from it. — feeling better.
Amazing Results! - By Terry My first experience with Shinkai-kan Holistic Therapy was as a result of having a terrible headache that I could not shake. After a long 6 hour drive, I had a splitting headache. I tried massaging my shoulders and neck, but it didn't help. I hate taking medicine, so consulted Mr. Haight of Shinkai-kan. He treated me with Shinkai-ho and Sotai-ho and after about 10 minutes, the headache was completely gone. I fell to sleep for a short while and woke up completely refreshed. I was really shocked at the results. In a later session, something, even more, shocking occurred. Recently my left calf cramps up at night and I can't get any decent sleep at a result of the pain. I often tried to massage it but it never really helped much. Richard looked at my left leg and said it was a problem with my hips (I was sure it was in my calf). But amazingly, after a few minutes of Shinkai-ho to my pelvic area, my calf suddenly relaxed. He then did the same thing to the right side of my pelvis and my right leg suddenly became straight (it had always been turned out as a result of a childhood injury, which I thought was a problem with my right knee). Now I sleep well at night and my walking is so much lighter. I just feel wonderful! The therapy is very gentle and not at all painful. I would highly recommend Shinkai-kan Holistic Therapy to anyone!
Thanks Again For A Great Experience! - By Gordon A few weeks ago I was injured while shoeing a 14-year-old pony that had never been shod without drugs. I was controlling the pony while my assistant was trimming his hooves. The pony suddenly lunged forward knocking me to the ground and I landed on my back and shoulder. I got up but was in terrible pain. We did manage to get the pony shod though and I thought that with some Ibuprofen and time I would get better. After several days with no relief, I talked to Richard and had him work on me. After a few minutes, he gave me tremendous relief. I guess at 70 years old I don’t bounce back like I used too. Thanks again for a great experience.
Words Simply Can Not Do Justice - By Jessica I decided to try Shinkai-ho Autonomic Therapy as a last ditch effort in finding relief from chronic pain in my lower back that is caused by an arthritic condition in my facet joints. I tried everything from conventional medicine to chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, yoga, and Pilates, none of which helped. The next step was an epidural in my lower back. Let me just start off by saying that I have finally found some relief! It is difficult to describe just how absolutely AMAZING this therapy is. I think it is important to note that I went into this with doubt in my mind that Richard would be able to help me. Boy was I wrong! It wasn't 5 minutes into my first session that all doubt had vanished from my mind. It was incredible! Shinkai-ho is a very gentle therapy that yields results. You can actually FEEL your body responding to the therapy. Imagine sunlight shimmering off the ocean, lake or river just as the sun starts to set. It is this shimmer of light that I experience during therapy; it feels as if my body is filled with it. It's wonderful and to me, it is indicative that my body is responding to the therapy. I have had a total of 8 sessions now and not only have I experienced relief from the pain in my lower back, I also have a greater range of motion in my back and feel restored back to a healthier state of being. It's easy to forget the total effects chronic pain has not only on the body, but the mind as well, and thanks to Richard and his therapy, I feel so much better! I would strongly encourage anyone to try this. Words simply can not do justice in describing how incredible and amazing and most importantly, EFFECTIVE Shinkai-ho therapy is. It's non-invasive, gentle, natural, and free of harsh side-effects (unlike most medication). Richard is gentle and kind and professional and makes you feel at ease right off the get-go. He is very thorough and knowledgeable of the body and its processes. I can't say enough how incredible this has been for me. Thank You Richard!
Quite The Miracle! - By Susan When Richard first started working on me during one of his visits from Japan I had a bad sciatic nerve problem which had been a major problem for a year or so. I had acupuncture and chiropractic work done and neither had helped. After Richard had worked his magic it went totally away and has not returned in over two years! Last year I had a fall which injured a muscle on the outside of my calf. It was so bad that if I put any weight on the outside of my leg my leg would go out from underneath of me and I would go down. That happened about four times and I was afraid I might end up in a wheelchair. It was also very painful. I knew Richard would be arriving from Japan in a short time so I put off going to a doctor. Again he worked his magic and it totally healed with no other problems related to it! Richard also worked wonders on a dog of mine when he had a major leg injury. Again it completely healed!
